Charlie attributes much of his success and learning to Ed Murray who took Charlie under his wing in the very beginning of his career. Charlie learned the restaurant business in every aspect from serving to tending bar to managing.
Charlie was the head chef at the Jazz Corner on Hilton Head Island for 7 years. This is where he found his true passion and love for cooking. He had a dream of opening his own restaurant, using local and fresh ingredients thus; May River Grill opened the beginning of December 2007.
